I have always had an affinity for the immigrant experience. I'm sure it stemmed from the fact that I am a first-generation American and often heard stories of how my parents came to the United States. I saw, firsthand, the joys and struggles of my uncles, aunts, and cousins as they crossed over and adjusted to their new lives.. When the Bosnian crisis blew up, I was at the forefront, making calls, writing letters to legislators and volunteering my time at the first-ever Bosnian Refugee Center. My passion ignited, and I know this is what I wanted to do. I visited Pakistan and volunteered in Afghan refugee camps and interviewed trafficking victims at the International Human Rights Institute. I researched, learned from the best and persevered.. Like all good stories. my path was circuitous. I graduated from law school and instead of pursuing immigration law, I joined an estate planning law firm. I wanted to develop a good base outside of my comfort zone and still have time to pursue international human rights. I did both, even though they seemed to be polar opposites of each other. Now, my estate planning background has sustained my desire to help people. I counsel families on how best to protect their assets and provide for their beneficiaries.. And for my immigration clients, I advise them on the tremendous need for powers of attorneys and guardianship of minors in case they are ever removed from the United States. I do this while still advocating for them in removal cases, before ICE or USCIS and helping them gain the legal status they deserve.. I love speaking and writing about my fields of practice and consider it a privilege to learn from others while also empowering them to know their rights.. My law practice is so much more than just a law firm. It's a family and a team that will stop at nothing to help you achieve your dreams. We don't take no for an answer and consider every obstacle to be a challenge worth overcoming.

Shahid Haque dedicates his practice to helping immigrants obtain legal status in the United States and pursue all that the country has to offer. Mr. Haque assists clients with a wide variety of immigration matters, including applications with the consulates abroad and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, representing clients arrested by the Department of Homeland Security, and defending immigrants in deportation proceedings in Immigration Court.. Mr. Haque has represented over a thousand immigrants and their families all across Montana. Mr. Haque helps clients with a wide variety of family and employment based visas. He has won asylum for over twenty refugees who fled from their home countries to escape torture, persecution, and death on account of their political or religious beliefs. He has also won cancellation of removal for numerous clients in contested deportation proceedings — one of the most difficult forms of relief to win due to its high burden of proof.. Mr. Haque has advocated for immigrants’ rights by bringing lawsuits in state and federal court to challenge unconstitutional laws and policies that discriminate against immigrants in Montana. He successfully challenged LR-121, an anti-immigrant voter-approved referendum, and thanks to his efforts the law was found unconstitutional.. In 2013, he filed a class action lawsuit against the Montana Highway Patrol to challenge its practice of detaining Latino drivers and passengers solely for the purpose of checking into their immigration status. In 2015, he prevailed with a judgment in his favor. Under a new policy, troopers cannot ask about immigration status based solely on a person’s race, ethnicity or language abilities. Nor can they demand drivers or passengers tell them their immigration status or detain people who choose not to answer. Montana is now one of the only states with a clear policy prohibiting this conduct.. In November 2016, Mr. Haque won a settlement of $125,000 against Jefferson County, Montana on behalf of a Mexican immigrant who was sexually assaulted while in immigration custody in that facility.. In the Fall of 2015, Mr. Haque taught immigration law at the University of Montana School of Law. Mr. Haque is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. He is also the founder and President of the Montana Immigrant Justice Alliance (“MIJA”), a statewide non-profit organization focused on immigrant justice issues. You can read about MIJA’s mission by clicking here.. In 2017, Mr. Haque was the recipient of the ACLU's Jeannette Rankin Civil Liberties Award, in acknowledgement of his service to immigrants in the State of Montana.. Mr. Haque lobbies for fair immigration policies in the Montana Legislature, and teaches training courses for immigrants and allies on immigration law, debunking myths about immigrants, knowing your rights when dealing with law enforcement, and the need for comprehensive immigration reform. In 2010, Mr. Haque trained at the Western States Center’s Community Strategic Training Initiative in Portland.. Mr. Haque earned his Juris Doctor from the Chicago-Kent College of Law, with High Honors, in 2005. During his first year in law school, he won the West Publishing Award for earning the highest GPA in his class. Mr. Haque served as Notes and Comments Editor of the Chicago-Kent Law Review, where he also published a scholarly article on labor and immigration policy. Upon graduation, he was inducted into the Order of the Coif and won the school’s Bar & Gavel Award for outstanding service to the immigrant community. During law school, Mr. Haque was an intern with the National Immigrant Justice Center. He received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Sociology from the University of Southern Indiana in 2001.. An experienced litigator in immigration courts, Bradley is well-known in the community as a passionate and persistent advocate for immigrants' rights. Whether in court or in the office, he is keenly aware of the challenges faced by immigrants and patiently helps them find solutions to their complex cases. While often daunting and confusing, these obstacles can usually be overcome. The two most frequent questions Bradley is asked are: “How do I become legal?” and “What can I do to avoid deportation?” After meeting with new clients for the first time, Brad offers a realistic and comprehensive perspective on these questions. His deep empathy helps him communicate with clients in a way that diminishes anxiety and inspires confidence.. In 2016 he was a named a Super Lawyer. His expertise has also led National Public Radio, WUOM, to count on him as an authority on recent changes in immigration law.. Bradley was born in South Africa and immigrated to the United States when he was 5 years old. He arrived in the U.S. with his parents on the QE2 (Queen Elizabeth II) boat from the UK and distinctly remembers being very self-conscious about his British accent -- so much so that he refused to go to any birthday party with his classmates until he “kicked” his accent. He incessantly watched Sesame Street and practiced, out-loud and in front of the television, how to speak “American” English. It was only when he was able to speak proper “American” that he felt comfortable. Bradley also remembers telling his classmates that he was born in South Africa, to which they asked if he was black — a question Bradley later posed to his parents, wondering if, in fact, he was "African-American.". For the past decade, Bradley has worked with people from every continent, facing myriad challenges. He works tirelessly to hold families together and to reunify those who have been separated. He also specializes in assisting individuals facing detention and deportation and those immigrants who may have committed crimes while in the United States

Weronika K. Costas, Esq. is the founder and principal attorney of The Costas Network Law Center, LLC. She holds a J.D. from Cleveland Marshall College of Law. Ms. Costas’ ideals of honesty, conviction and compassion drive her in her practice. Her professionalism and integrity allow her to be diligent in her work as well as respectful and compassionate with her clients. While her firm is based in the greater Cleveland, Ohio, area, she represents clients before immigration courts, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and asylum offices across the United States. She has extensive removal defense and family-based immigration experience and has filed many successful motions and appeals with the Board of Immigration Appeals.. Ms. Costas’ drive and compassion stem from her personal background as an immigrant herself. Born in Poland, Ms. Costas came to the United States in 1991 on a J-2 visa. She later obtained lawful permanent residence and ultimately became a naturalized U.S. citizen. While she quickly assimilated to living in the U.S., she never forgot the initial feelings of culture shock and insecurity that come with moving to a new country. As her European accent disappeared over the years, she made a conscious effort to stay in touch with her roots. As a result, she is still fluent in Polish and has maintained a very strong Polish identity while at the same time embracing the American culture in which she matured.. Ms. Costas’ dual cultural awareness made International Studies a natural choice for her major at Kenyon College. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, she studied abroad in Mexico where she became fluent in Spanish. Back in the U.S., an externship at Lutheran Immigration and Resettlement Service in Baltimore, MD introduced her to the complexities of a non-profit refugee resettlement organization. Her newfound awareness of refugee issues, coupled with her empathy towards people from different countries, sparked an interest in serving immigrants. This was the major driving force in her pursuit of a law degree.. While at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Ms. Costas interned at the Cleveland Immigration Court. In this capacity, she gained invaluable experience by performing legal research and drafting court decisions in complex removal and asylum cases. She then further honed her legal immigration experience by working for three years at Margaret W. Wong & Associates, LPA. Following this, Ms. Costas founded The Costas Network Law Center, LLC to expand her services to the local and nationwide immigrant community.
