During my time in Carbondale I was able to volunteer for two years at the Self Help Legal Center earning recognition both years for the amount of time I provided pro bono services. I also volunteered my time with the Immigration Detention Project at the Tri County Detention Center in Ullin, Illinois. In my third year of law school I was asked to run the Self Help Legal Center, which I gladly did.. During the summer after my first year of law school I studied abroad in Ireland (Dingle, Galway, & Dublin) and in Wales. Classes ranged from International Criminal Law to International Intellectual Property. This five week program was one of the deciding factors in choosing which law school to attend.. During the summer after my second year of law school I obtained a license to practice law under the supervision of the Peoria County State's Attorney, Jerry Brady. Through this license I handled the Traffic docket nearly every day which ranged from first appearances to bench trials. I also used my license in the Misdemeanor court room where I had bench trials and handled my first jury trial which we received a favorable verdict. I also did research for Felony cases when I wasn't in court.. With this license, I returned to the Peoria County State's Attorney's office on my winter break from school to assist in the Traffic and Misdemeanor courtrooms. I also utilized this license during my Spring semester my third year of law school when I worked with the Williamson County State's Attorney's Office in Marion, Illinois. I share the value system of my partner and am committed to forming personal and caring relationships with my clients, advocating aggressively and zealously for my clients, and honing my legal skills through continued and regular professional training and education to better serve my clients.. Because the consequences can be so long lasting and drastic, when you have been accused of a crime, you don't need a good attorney. You need a great attorney.. More than anything else, I believe a great attorney views and gets to know her client as a person. She learns her client's life story and gains an understanding of the background that led to her client's current circumstance. As a person accused of a crime, you deserve to know that your representative understands you as an individual. I make sure this happens. I speak with you frequently, I make sure you understand each step of the process, and I respond to all of your inquiries in a timely fashion. And, I work hard to make sure that the prosecutor and the judge know you not just as a person accused of a crime, but as a person with a history, a family, and a life that really matters.. While our American theme is "innocent until proven guilty," it often seems this phrase should be the other way around. Make no mistake, when you have been accused of a crime, the cards are stacked against you. Because of this, you need an attorney who really knows how to aggressively represent you. I have spent more time litigating in a courtroom than most attorneys. I enjoy the advocacy of courtroom litigation. Most importantly, I listen intently to what you have to say. With me as your attorney, you will never feel there is a great argument that should have been made but wasn't. I am also an excellent collaborator. Sometimes what you need as a person who has been accused of a crime is simply the assurance that you are getting the best deal possible given your situation. I work well with all parties to make sure you are not getting a raw deal. If there is room for negotiation out there, I will find it and fit you in.. Finally, like Attorney Schierer, I work hard to fine tune my legal knowledge and my legal skills. With me as your attorney you can be assured I will be updated on the law and trained in the most recent courtroom techniques. As your attorney, I owe you the duty of competency. I strive to provide you with excellency.. Before all this began, I earned a B.S. in Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. Thereafter I went on full scholarship and earned a J.D. summa cum laude from Southern Illinois University. Since then, I have been honored to join the bars of the States of Illinois, Missouri and California. As a result, I am uniquely qualified to practice in all state courts in these states and in several federal courts throughout the states.. I work in both the trial and the appellate venues of practice. I have worked on numerous misdemeanor and felony cases and have even had the pleasure of successfully arguing a criminal defense case before the Illinois Supreme Court at the age of 28.. When not working or volunteering in the community, I enjoy spending quality time with my family, exploring local cuisine, hiking the wilderness, and reading a great book.

I help individuals who have been injured by the carelessness or recklessness of others. I believe it's important and my obligation to ensure the rights of those whose lives have been damaged not only physically but also in economic and extremely personal ways because an individual, a corporation, an insurance company, a government entity, or a hospital disregarded a safety rule and needlessly endangered them. In this belief and effort I have argued before both state and federal courts on behalf of individuals, researched and drafted memoranda in premises, uninsured motorist, trucking, and Section 1983 Civil Rights cases, as well as drafted arguments on Appeal. Most of the cases handled by my office settle. However, the five lawyers in our firm, including my brother and father, are trial lawyers. In combination we have tried over 350 jury trials. I am blessed to be a part of a profession and work for a firm that strives to ensure the dignity of every human being, despite power, despite wealth, despite intellect or accomplishment.

One of the earliest cases I took on in my new practice was a medical malpractice wrongful death case that settled a few years later for $4.6 Million dollars. That was the largest med mal settlement in Missouri for 2007. Since then my practice has continued to grow with a primary focus of serious personal injury cases, however, I never overlook the small cases, I still enjoy those cases just as much and love getting great results for my clients.. I was born in St Louis and grew up here and graduated in the top 10% of my class at SLU Law School in 2002. I spent a few years at large lawfirms learning the ropes, getting courtroom and trial experience, and defending large corporations and insurance companies. My experiences at these defense firms was invaluable and I enjoyed my time there, however, my heart just was not in it as I am a Plaintiff's lawyer to my very core. I prefer the role of Matt Damon in the movie the Rainmaker as opposed to Jon Voight's character.. In 2004 I started the St Louis Personal Injury Lawfirm of Sansone Law, llc. Within the first year I began getting excellent results for my clients and absolutely love what I do and take enourmous pride in being the best trial lawyer I can become.
