I graduated from the St. Louis University School of Law after receiving undergraduate degrees in Business and Politics from Drake University. While in law school, I worked in the Legal Clinic and litigated cases before the Missouri Court of Appeals.  I also clerked for Circuit Court Judge Jon Beetem and Judge Paul Wilson, who is now a justice on the Missouri Supreme Court.  Upon graduating law school, I worked as Enforcement Counsel for the Missouri Department of Insurance, Financial Institutions, and Professional Registration where I gained experience working with insurance companies and handling administrative law matters.  I have represented clients in workers’ compensation matters at hearings and dockets throughout Missouri and am a member of the Missouri Bar and the Cole County Bar Association.

I have been practicing primarily in the field of workers' compensation since 1995.  Our firm is know both statewide, and nationally, for our efforts on behalf of the injured worker and his/her family.  We represent the Missouroi AFL-CIO, numerous IAFF, IBEW, CWA, UAW, IAMAW, USW unions, as well as Trade Councils, federations, etc.  Our passion is helping the working men and women of our country.. Outside of work, I am a very devoted family man and father to my children.  I am an avid outdoorsman, having been hunting since my early teens.  I love to deer and turkey hunt, with many wall hangers for both.  I also am an avid fisherman, especially in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) around and near Ely, Minnesota.  My interest and love of that area, began in 1983, as a young Boy Scout.  My father and I, as well as other family members, have been traveling there for 30 years, to enjoy the pristine wilderness and wildlife, as well as world class fishing.. I am also an avid historian, especially of military history.  I have a vast collection of military art, signed by WW2 veterans who served in various branches of the US Armed Forces, the British Army/RAF, as well as in the German Army/Luftwaffe.. Lastly, I have a profound weakness for single malt scotch and good single barrel bourbons and whiskey.

I have been counsel to the Missouri AFL-CIO for over 25 years, and have represented people and their families who have been injured or killed.  I am a founder and a past president of a national organization of attorneys who strive to make a difference for those who are injured or made sick from their employment--Workers' Injury Law & Advocacy Group.  Besides being a member of the NFL Players Association panel of attorneys, I am a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance--a non-partisan organization which provides academic analysis and research in areas such as social security, Medicare, Unemployment, and, Workers' Compensation.. Our firm continues to grow and expand areas of practice.  This year, we changed the name to Boyd, Kenter, Thomas & Parrish, LLC.
