I have loved being a lawyer. Advocating for my clients is one of the things I am most proud of in life. I treat every client as an equal and strive to represent them to the best of my capabilities.
Representing individuals, families, and trial law primarily defines me. My varied complex caseload and travel energizes and challenges me on a daily basis. I have been extremely fortunate to come from the small state of Vermont to travelling the world representing individuals in their struggles against large corporations and insurance companies. With the help of juries and the legal system, over the decades, I have been able to help right many egregious wrongs. Much of the credit for where I am professionally rests with my two wonderful parents, Lee and Judy. They imparted me with the pursuit of education, ethics, drive, fight and passion that has led to a track record of success.
I believe that trial lawyers, along with the jury system, perform an integral function in our society, by leveling the playing field among parties with disparate economic resources. By focusing my practice on a select number of catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, rather than focusing on volume, I am able to devote the individual attention that each client deserves. As a result, the vast majority of my clients are referrals from other lawyers, judges and members of the community.
I am proud to say, we are not an T.V. advertising firm. Our clients come to us by referrals from current and former clients, other lawyers, doctors, our friends in the community, and people who know of us by reputation. We are very proud of reputation for responsiveness to our clients and our genuine interest in the welfare of our clients. Being a non advertising firm means that we have more time to dedicate to our clients’ cases, and I think it is for this reason we have a higher level of client satisfaction compared to the experience of clients at an advertising firm.. I have been continuously practicing law in Florida since 1990 when I started my career as a prosecutor for Janet Reno in Miami. A prosecutor has the highest ethical responsibility of any practice in law, and I admire prosecutors and enjoyed this part of my career. After working as a prosecutor for a few years, I transitioned into private practice, representing victims in civil claims for injury and wrongful death. I have tried cases involving serious injury and death, claims against insurance companies, and represented hundreds of individuals and various civil claims. In the past ten years, my practice has grown to include two unique sub specialties within my civil practice, hospital lien litigation and automotive diminished value claims. I am known within Florida as a resource for help to attorneys and individuals grappling with hospitals’ aggressive tactics of attaching hospital liens against the settlement of a patient. This is a slowly evolving area of law in which clear answers are rare, and collaboration among lawyers is essential for civil practitioners. Diminished value claims are gaining in popularity due to increased consumer awareness of the ability to seek compensation for diminution in value to an automobile, motorcycle, RV, bus, or any valuable car owned by an individual or corporation. Most lawyers seem disinterested in this area of law, but I thoroughly enjoy handling this area of practice. I have found that the owners of expensive cars and motorcycles who retain me in diminished value claims seem to be some of the most satisfied and grateful clients, and this is a great feeling for me as a lawyer.

I grew up in a family where my father came from a very poor family of 9 children and my mother grew up in a family of 5 children. Both of them grew up in Crosby Ironton, Minnesota. Dad was so poor that the brothers had to loan their shoes and clothes to the other siblings in order to go to school. Dad saw many of the fathers of his school friends lose their lives when the mines they were working in collapsed. From that point on, he became an active advocate for the underdog and never stopped. He taught us kids to be compassionate and advocate for the families that had bad luck or less opportunities because they were poor. I had no choice but be inspired to advocate for others.. When I graduated from the U of M, women were encouraged to choose teaching, nursing and or secretarial work. I graduated from the College of Education, but longed to be a lawyer that at that time was not an acceptable choice for a woman. After the birth of my third child, women were enrolling in law school in waves. I was thrilled to join the wave and started my first year at Hamline Law School when my youngest, was 6 months old.. I graduated from law school in 1980 and after clerking in Bankruptcy Court and working in Real Estate, I started my own law firm in 1993 practicing in the area of personal injury. I have loved my life as a lawyer. I have enjoyed working with a group of terrific co-workers who have become wonderful friends. My clients will testify, that I fight very hard for them and always try to obtain the best result possible. I am most fortunate to have these opportunities.
