landlord/tenant stuff with contested will
landlord tenant attorney Colorado Aug 14, 2026
I will make this as concise as possible. My mother and I recently moved in with her brother, my uncle. We are all living in a space that is owned by a trust that my uncle is the executer over. A trust that my mother and I were left out of by my uncle and my grandmother, his mother. All the money in the trust was made by my grandfather whom I dearly miss. My grandmother did nothing but drink martinis and eat Valium. My grandfather was the one who made the money. The reason there is a trust. He unfortunately died before my grandmother did. Once he died my bitch ass grandmother and her weird son ( my uncle ) changed his will giving him everything and effectively cutting my mother and I out of anything substantial. Like real estate or trust funds. He has allowed us to move in without a lease. It lasted about two weeks. Now he is making absurd demands and just generally being a garbage person. As I see it… we are owed 1/2 of this place. My grandfather paid for it. He would not have allowed them to fu** with the will. So, here I am … having paid him money with no lease. What is my play here ? If the law is called they are going to ask for an eviction notice correct ? Which he doesn’t have and can’t get because there is no lease yeah ? Could I effectively squat here and basically ask him how much is it worth for him to have me leave…from what I’ve read it can take up to 5 months for a forced eviction yes ? I’m not breaking any laws. Nobody is in any danger and won’t be. Thank you. Location: Colorado Edit : Seems like I have touched a chord here and that tells me he is going to have a hard time evicting me with no lease ….
