At fault car accident other person’s insurance is threatening to sue

Location: Arizona A few months back I was in a car accident, someone made a left turn in front of me and I couldn’t stop in time. The cops decided it was my fault. I also found out same day that my auto payment had failed on my insurance so it was lapsed at the time of the accident and they refuse to help me. I have not answered any calls from the other driver’s insurance company but they left a message today saying if I don’t respond by Thursday or Friday they will send my case to their attorney to sue me. I am a functionally single mom who spent all of my savings putting my car back together after the accident so that I could still make it to work. My credit cards are maxed, my paychecks are just enough to cover all the bills and groceries. I’ve already been sent to collections twice for medical bills that I could not pay, and I have old traffic tickets that I am still struggling to pay off. Absolutely no extra money to pay for whatever amount this company wants from me. Just hoping to get some advice on what I can do. I feel like I am out of options, I’ve just been trying so hard to keep my little family afloat in our rundown apartment, and I’m afraid we are about to lose everything because of this.
