Old job that did me dirty

Location: North Carolina A few years ago I left a company that I had worked for about five years. I quit because the company never had me getting paid for the position I was hired to work and what all my coworkers were working. I found this out at the end. So that's 5 years not making the right paycheck. Had to work 2 jobs most time. I was upset and left abruptly. Could I have done anything legally to resolve that issue at the time looking back??
