Legal Help With Getting Kicked Out

If someone let my fiance and I stay in their home for free but didn't give an expected end date for staying and now wants us to leave unexpectedly, do they have to give a 30 day notice? I've been there for almost 3 months and have received official mail there. He never gave a time limit. He just asked for help around the house, which we have done. We have put food in the house, cooked meals, cleaned, and have helped take care of his dogs when he is not at home. He sent me a facebook message today and said when my fiance is discharged from the hospital we are no longer welcome at his house and he would pack our things and leave it outside for us to retrieve. He said he would help us with getting a job amongst other things to help us get on our feet but did not follow through with any of these things. I have nowhere to go and no one to help me. I will be homeless and on the streets. Location: norfolk virginia
