Fired while on medical leave

Location: California For context I have been on medical leave for two years and applied for social security disability insurance. I had a stroke two years ago and haven’t been able to work since, I’ve been doing pt and slowly getting better so I can work. Today I received a letter from my employer saying I have been terminated because my medical leave exceeded two years. Is there anything I can do?
