Pre-Injury Liability Waivers
Texas Jul 25, 2026
Location: Texas I am wondering about waivers that places want me to sign for my kid. We are hesitant to sign things that say we release all liability for injury or death for any reason. Here is an example of one that a local church sent for Vacation Bible School participants. How legally binding is something like this? "LIABILITY RELEASE: In consideration of "Church" allowing the Participant to participate in "Event", I, for myself and on behalf of Participant, do hereby release, forever discharge and agree to hold harmless "Church", its pastors, directors, employees, volunteers and teachers from any and all liability, claims or demands for personal injury, sickness or death, as well as property damage and expenses, of any nature whatsoever which may be incurred by the undersigned and the Participant while involved in the Event. Furthermore, I, on behalf of myself and my minor Participant, hereby assume all risk of personal injury, sickness, death, damage and expense as a result of participation in the Event. The undersigned further hereby agrees to hold harmless and indemnify said Church for any liability sustained by said Church as the result of the negligent, willful or intentional acts of said Participant, including expenses incurred attendant thereto. Photo Consent: "Church" is authorized to photograph or video participants and use their image(s) in any advertising or promotion.
