A question involving a medical bill and former employment

Location: Kentucky So this situation seems to be a bit unique to me but maybe someone has encountered something similar or heard of something like it. Basically, my partner had a job and the owners of where she worked were also physicians. These physicians forgive whatever healthcare cost is not covered by insurance including their spouses. A while back, my partner left her job there and now months later we have received medical bills for the entirety of when she worked there. It’s nearly $2000 worth. I wasn’t sure if there was any avenue for me to take and just get ready to set up a payment plan.
