Greystar never gave me my deposit back, almost at 60 days past.
landlord tenant attorney Florida Jul 21, 2026
Location: Davenport FL Looking for some advice from anyone familiar with Florida landlord/tenant laws. I moved out on June 2. I never received my final statement—I actually had to reach out and ask for it. According to the statement, I was getting most of my security deposit back after the deductions for rent and water. The issue is, I still haven’t received my deposit. I’ve called multiple times and was told the check had already been mailed and not to worry. After waiting 44 days, I went to the office on Thursday because I still hadn’t received anything. That’s when I was told it hadn’t even been sent out, which completely contradicted what I’d been told before. I told them I needed an update by today on what was being done, and I’ve received absolutely no response. At this point, it’s been almost 60 days since I moved out, and I still don’t have my deposit. It’s a pretty significant amount of money, and the lack of communication has been beyond frustrating. Has anyone in Florida dealt with something like this? Is it worth speaking to a lawyer… like yesterday? Or is there another step I should take first? Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
