Location: Iowa I recently filed for a Judgment Debtor Examination under Iowa Chapter 630, and the court approved it. The examination is scheduled for next month. The debtor recently sold real property. The deed was dated July 16, 2026 and recorded July 20, 2026. The mortgage was also released as paid in full shortly after the sale. Before the examination, I am trying to determine the correct procedure for requesting document production. Under Iowa Chapter 630, can the judgment creditor request that the court order the judgment debtor to bring specific documents to the debtor examination, or would this require a separate subpoena duces tecum or other post-judgment procedure? The documents I am considering requesting relate to the recent real estate sale, including closing documents, proceeds received, and records showing disposition of those proceeds. I am also trying to determine whether the debtor examination process can require information or records regarding assets generally, such as bank accounts, vehicles, real estate interests, other property, and transfers of assets. I am specifically looking for guidance on the proper Iowa procedure for obtaining this information before or during the examination.
