He served as a public defender in the Greeley Regional Office of the Colorado Public Defender for 14 years, where he handled thousands of cases, litigated hundreds of motions hearings, and tried nearly 100 jury trials. His work includes everything from misdemeanors to homicides, as well as appeals in the Weld District Court, Colorado Court of Appeals, and Colorado Supreme Court. In 2010, Mr. Merson was named "Attorney of the Year" by the Colorado Public Defender for his exceptional service..
