I just moved. Current location: Wisconsin. Previous employer location: Colorado. I am a teacher, so I work ten months of the year but my contract allows me to request my pay be dispersed throughout the year. I choose to do this so I can rely on monthly income even in summer. According to my contract, my salary was supposed to be split evenly across 24 payments from September 1st 2025 until August 31st 2026. However, my school made a mistake and instead set my salary to be dispersed in 22 payments across eleven months instead, with the last paycheck being July 31st instead of August 31st. This means I will not be getting any paychecks in for the entire month of August. I did not find this out until today when I reached out to my school to find out why I wasn't paid August 15th. They looked into it and admitted it was their mistake. I now need to somehow pay all of my bills, rent, groceries, etc with no income for an entire month. I already live paycheck to paycheck. I don't know what I'm going to do. Is there even any legal recourse here? I suspect the answer is no, but at this point I'm desperate and checking every option. TIA

Location: Michigan (Remote) Corporate Headquarters: Texas Former Team Location: Colorado I am an Engineer facing what seems like sudden, targeted performance manufacturing, career blocking, and aggressive knowledge extraction after a company acquisition. This directly follows a complaint regarding a hostile work environment and hate imagery. I am the only employee left from my original legacy team. Background & Performance History: Before the acquisition, I consistently received "Exceeds Expectations" and "Significantly Exceeds Expectations" ratings. I have the highest performance numbers on the team, train almost all new hires, build templates and SOPs, and handle recommend tuning. I am the primary face with the deepest knowledge for a high profile client. I built a write up format with this client to meet their expectations. Timeline of Key Events: Late 2025 / Early 2026 - a couple of legacy employees (myself included) verbally voiced serious concerns to the VP, Director, and Manager regarding the constant use of Pepe the Frog on company platforms. It became a significant internal issue. Early 2026 - shortly after the complaint, every person from Colorado who joined me in voicing concerns was let go. I am the only one left. May 2026 -my current manager dropped my rating to "Solid Contributor," blaming the manager that was let go for the feedback. I never received feedback from any of the former management and have not really gotten any from the new management. TLDR; I’ve been in my position for two years and began documenting at 1.5 years when I realized the treatment was inconsistent. After filing a grievance process following my first performance review, which was accepted by the department’s HR, my supervisor denied me an auto-progression promotion six months later. I pointed out the retaliation aspects of it to HR, who essentially forced their hand to promote me. Immediately, I was given a Performance Improvement Plan in January for three months. I excelled and then was hit w/ a Corrective Action at the end of July. They described this as a “pre-PMP review” when I asked for the nature of the meeting. I don’t necessarily need advice on redirection of my career (I’m already in the workings of interviewing and relocating), but my question is do I have a leg to stand on legally if I were to have documented well? P.S. I’m a state employee that’s unionized. My union representative has been included in all proponents of the last 1.5 years. Location: Colorado, USA.
