Location: Colorado, USA I have lived at the same address for 6 years. It's a small apartment building with 4 apartments then a small separate unit on the same property. Recently the old property owner sold the property to new owners, whom seem fine, but a new tenant that moved in right before the sale has turned out to be a nightmare. I will make this as concise as possible. My mother and I recently moved in with her brother, my uncle. We are all living in a space that is owned by a trust that my uncle is the executer over. I need legal advice involving three other roommates and a leasing company. I moved from Missouri to Boulder, Colorado and moved in with three other roommates, all of us in our early 20s in August of last year. I broke the lease early on Jan. 1st, 2026, I paid a $500 fine to do this, they found a new tenant to sign the lease, I was off the lease and did not have any more money to pay. The new tenant did NOT pay a security deposit, so the security deposit is owed to the four of the original tenants on the lease. The lease started Aug. 1st 2025 and ended Aug. 1st 2026.
