My child is attending a charter school specifically for kids with autism. He has an IEP which specifically requires transportation, but they said he doesn’t qualify for their limited program as a new student. The district website also says charter students don’t qualify. We’ve been using medical transportation to get to school (due to the services he receives there) but they’re usually late or no-shows. This is a safety issue due to elopement + waiting an hour in extreme heat. Other parents are experiencing this issue as well. However, the state law says “Funds for student transportation.—The annual allocation to each district for transportation to public school programs, including charter schools as provided in s. 1002.33(17)(b)”… is he still not entitled to anything? Location: Central, Florida Synchrony is preventing me from using my payment security for my paypal credit card. They keep rejecting the supporting evidence so that I cannot use the unemployment benefit. I have called several times and have emailed them the documentation. When I ask for a supervisor, they are never available. And they refuse to set up callback times so you have no idea if or when they do. When I ask for the contact information for the legal department, they refuse. Their agents have told me to provide different documents, I submit them and then I am later told that the documents were wrong. I do not believe they are acting in good faith and are intentionally being misleading so that they do not have to pay off my credit card. I filed a BBB complaint and they did not respond so it was closed. Please respond if you have had any luck OR if you are in the same boat. [Location: Florida] This is r/legaladvice but I'm curious for any opinions on what to do in this matter since I'm experiencing it at a government office... I'll try to summarize facts while separating why discrimination feels like a motive because it is important, but I'm just upset with the final result. I have had a CDL with a hazmat endorsement for 4 years and went for renewal on 6/29. Hazmat is done electronically in multiple locations now, I first got it at the courthouse. I pass and all my work is done. Less than two weeks later the hazmat check site says record not found and I send an email noting this. The reply from the DMV is one line "Records show test was passed on 6/29". The clerk who did everything for my test wrote a post it note with a phone number and file number in the case to check if I haven't recieved my updated liscense in the mail. I called today and the application was never sent from the office! They had nothing from them. I called at the end of business hours so we left it at that for now. ............. So... let's take this as the case right now... wild incompetence that could cost me income, a job, or put me in very serious legal trouble for hauling hazmat materials. Location: South Florida. I work at a kava bar. One of my old coworkers opened up a Kava bar as well. My boss, being my boss, didn’t take it too well. She has been relentlessly talking crap about him, his bar, where he got the money for it, along with talking about him to other customers. She has also been bad mouthing customers to other customers. While I don’t have any ill will towards him, as he didn’t do anything to me, she doesn’t want anyone going to his bar. While I was not told directly, she has said to other people(their words) that they will be fired on the spot if we go visit him. She was also going on a “banning spree”, banning anyone from the bar that goes to visit him at his bar. She is losing business daily, and I don’t see this place being open another year at this rate. I know Florida is an at will state, but would firing me for going to his bar be considered retaliation? Is there any legal standing for this?
