Sarah also served as the Managing Articles Editor of the Journal of Criminal Law & Criminology and was awarded the Lowden-Wigmore Prize for Legal Writing for her article on felon disenfranchisement.. While in law school, Sarah worked for the Southern Center for Human Rights. There she worked on the appeal of a petition for a writ of habeas corpus before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, which the court subsequently granted. She also participated in drafting an amicus brief opposing Georgia’s Illegal Immigration and Reform Act of 2011.. Following law school, Sarah served as Law Clerk to the Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.. Sarah’s practice focuses on protecting the constitutional rights of detainees in jails and prisons across the United States.
