Amy graduated from John Marshall Law School in 1996. After graduation she worked for several law firms in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, where she gained experience in the areas of employment law, insurance defense, contested guardianship and probate, and other litigation matters. She tried several cases to jury verdict. In addition, she served as an arbitrator for the Cook County Mandatory Arbitration system. She successfully defended clients before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Illinois Department of Human Rights, the Illinois Department of Employment Security, and the Illinois Department of Labor.. Amy volunteers with Northern Community Mediation in Petoskey and Charlevoix, and this year Amy was named Veteran Mediator of the Year. Raised in Northern Michigan and Central Florida, attorney Bridget Brown Powers was graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in the top 10 percent of her class with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from UNC’s prestigious School of Journalism, which included instruction in the broadcast, print, and advertising sequences. Ms. Powers also earned an outside concentration in Political Science. While at Carolina, Ms. Powers served as a TV intern at WTVD-11, where she wrote breaking-news stories for live broadcast by the 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. news anchors.
