Hi all. I'm looking for some legal advice here. So June 2025, I began working at a company in minnesota. I started work, worked for about a week. Then was all of a sudden "laid off until my criminal case resolved" because they were informed by another employee I had an ongoing criminal case and that coworker "didnt feel comfortable me working there". I filed unemployment, the company argued that I didnt inform them, to which they never asked anything about it nor did I lie or hide anything on my application. The unemployment judge ruled in my favor and awarded me unemployment. Which obviously, only 1 week of work isnt any unemployment funds. I'm not concerned about the unemployment. I was disqualified due to being fired from my previous job as I was incarcerated for 3 months, so I needed to show unemployment i made i think $1,450 and lost a job AFTER being fired. My main concern and question, my criminal case began approximately 8 months before starting work at this job. I was "laid off" with never having any issue with any coworker, customer, managers loved me, it was all because 1 coworker mentioned my legal case to the boss. So my question being, do i have any legal action i can take? Im kinda lost and unsure if theres anything I can do legally? Location: Minnesota

Location: Minnesota I am in need of serious help and quickly!!! I am currently 8 months pregnant and my job notified me yesterday that we will be permanently closing our doors in 8 days (7 days now.) I work for a franchise and they refuse to transfer us locations we have to go through the interview and hiring process again to get into their other locations. At the time I go on maternity leave I will have been with the company for a year qualifying me for FMLA and the paid leave after my baby is here. Now with me being so far along and going on leave very soon nobody wants to hire me on just for me to leave in 7 weeks. Is there any legal action I can take to make sure I still get a paid maternity leave since they have screwed me out of a job while I am so far along and having trouble finding a new employer?

Location: Minnesota TL;DR: my sister is getting involved in an unemployment trial because the boss that fired her wants her to pay back the unemployment she received and a lot of the discovery against her is BS. She can’t afford a lawyer—are there any legal assistance programs she could look into to help her prepare for her phone trial? We have no idea what we’re doing Backstory: My sister (30F—who lives and works in Minnesota) was fired from her job as a manager at a non-profit because it “wasn’t working out” at the company— to my knowledge she was not given any other reasons for being let go. She was let go without any warning, or any behaviors or actions she had at work being brought up to her for any sort of written warnings or plans for improvement at the job or that were brought up as reasons for her being fired. To my knowledge, she was given very little training as the previous manager quit due to issues with the executive director (the person who fired my sister) and she had to figure out how to properly do the job with little instruction for how she needed to do things. My sister attempted multiple times to have conversations with the director to gain more insight about her specific duties and what the director felt was her overstepping as my sister was getting frustrated with lack of communication. Her director would brush her off and avoid meeting with her.…
