At age 19, Maureen was elected to the New Hampshire House of Representatives where she served for six years on the Judiciary Committee. She remains the youngest woman ever elected to a seat in the state legislature. Maureen was appointed by Governor Jeanne Shaheen to serve as a Commissioner on the New Hampshire Human Rights Commission from 1997 to 2004. Maureen is a founding member of the New Hampshire Women’s Bar Association and served as its first President, and served as Chair of the New Hampshire Women's Lobby. She has served on the Board of Governors of the New Hampshire Bar Association and the New Hampshire Bar Foundation.. Maureen was recognized by the New Hampshire Bar Association’s Gender Equality Committee with their Annual Award. She received the Board of Governors’ Award from the New Hampshire Association for Justice for excellent advocacy at the New Hampshire legislature, has recently served as President, and continues on the Board of the association.
