Hello all, I'll try to keep this as simple as possible because it's confusing and I'm not sure what to do. In 2020 I had gotten a mobile home loan with my grandfathers help as my credit was poor. He basically helped by using his credit to get the approval and all but I paid for everything and sent him the money for the down payment and so on. He digitally signed documents and gave me permission (through paper work) to be able to sign for him after that was all done. The park/lands owner at the time either gaslit me or lied in order to get the sale. I was told everything would be under both of our names between the title/sale and what not. Sadly he passed away a few years ago so now that I have questions I can't ask them as he and everyone associated with him longer exist here at the park. The plan was for my grandfather to move back down here from FL as his significant other was very sick and when she passed he wanted to be closer to me, so he was going to move in here after and have me help him which was the deal. Location: New Jersey So in early May I was ticketed and towed for expired registration. I renewed and had my father’s car released the very next day. I also tried to pay my ticket the very next day, but it seemed it wasn’t in the system yet. Every day, for 23 days straight, I called in to see when the ticket would be in the system so I could pay it. (I have the calls timestamped with the names of the personnel I spoke to) On the 23rd day a Sergeant told me to stop calling and that she would call me when the ticket was in the system ready to be paid. Less than a week later I receive a failure to pay notice in the mail. Obviously very annoyed I called in and had court scheduled. I waited in the zoom lobby for half an hour and no one let me in. I called in yet again and had court rescheduled for this upcoming Tuesday morning and was given a number to call if there’s any tech issues or no one lets me in the Zoom call. Yesterday I receive an arrest warrant in the mail… I’m just so upset and afraid at the whole situation. What should I do?

Location: Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey Situation: I'm a named tenant on a lease for a shared house. Five tenants total, all sharing, landlord owns the building and rents out multiple units across several floors. My rent is $450/month, paid on time every month, currently by Zelle to one of the co-tenants who collects and forwards it to the landlord. The lease is being renewed for a further year starting this month. One co-tenant has appointed himself the de facto manager of the house. He collects the rent, issues rules in the group chat, and has a personal relationship with the landlord through a family connection. He is not the owner, not on any management agreement, and as far as I know has no legal role beyond being a tenant like the rest of us. The issues: While I was abroad dealing with a family medical emergency, he messaged demanding I pay him a security deposit on my return. My deposit is already held by the landlord and nothing is owed to him. He has told me and others that he will have me removed from the house, that my belongings will be put outside, and that my staying is conditional on complying with him. Most recently in the group chat, in our language, words to the effect of "stay if you want to stay" and "don't play." Location: New Jersey Hi all, not sure if this is the right sub for this so my apologies if it's not. Just trying to get some clarity on my situation and options. I live in an apartment building in New Jersey, and have lived here on an annually-renewed lease since 2019. Renewed the lease last July for the dates of August 1, 2025 - July 31, 2026. However, last October, the property was sold to a new management company (based out of Brooklyn, NY in case that's relevant). Obviously the new company has honored all existing leases, however, as you can see my lease ends a week from now. I have not received a lease renewal from them (previous owner would always send a month in advance). Last week, I sent two emails to the management company about it and have not received an email back. I called three times this week; two times someone answered and said someone from the leasing department would get right back to me (and they never did), a third time no one answered and I left a voicemail (and never got a call back). So... just wondering what happens next week if the lease ends and I don't have a lease. From what I have been able to find, the NJ Anti-Eviction Act has me protected...
