want to ask about my case, because this keeps coming back in nightmares even 4 years after all of this. location: Pennsylvania laws. Edit: I have been asked to provide context. Sum it up, final year college student, was setup by a frat bro in drug charges. I was a non U.S citizen, cops went hard on me, said they would put me for 3 felonies etc. eventually did a lawyer who would talk to the DA, had a clean record, GPA, internship lined up, and school extra curriculars. The lawyer never talked to the DA, he just texted the cop, and the cop, filed charges a misdemeanor. from what I was told if the lawyer actually spoke to the da before hand, the charges would have never even be filed, or be dropped. then after it was filed, he spoke to the DA, and got me a pre trial ARD. It sounds happy ending, but it turns out thats turned out to be the biggest mistake. I am a non U.S citizen, even with charges filed, my life is over. I tried 2 consults after, but whats done is done, and my life isnt better. I keep having nightmares thinking if that reliance on the lawyer, and the trust was the reason I have a immigration problem now. I need honest answers, could it have been better, is it because he did not take my case seriously ? the final question - how bad is it for an immigrant…
