Matthew (Matt) G. Thompson has specialized in advanced employment-based immigration law and global business immigration matters for nearly 20 years. Mr. Thompson graduated cum laude from Southern Methodist University in 1989 with a degree in Russian Area Studies and received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Houston Law Center in 1997. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Thompson served in the United States Air Force as a Russian language linguist. He also spent time as an Immigration Specialist for refugee resettlement at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. While there, he was awarded the Department of State’s Superior Honor Award for outstanding performance during the attempted Soviet coup of August 1991.. Mr. Thompson is a member of the Texas State Bar, the American Bar Association, and the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association (AILA). He is a frequent public speaker on immigration topics, including various AILA conferences and seminars. As a member of AILA’s Military Assistant Program, he provides pro bono representation to U.S. military members and their families with a variety of immigration-related issues.. Mr. Thompson has been a board member of the Bach Society of Houston since 2005. He also counsels the organization on immigration matters for their guest performers.
