If you have been hurt in a car or truck wreck, on a job site, or otherwise by someone else’s negligence, we can help. We will investigate the claim, monitor your medical treatment and deal with the insurance company. If the insurance company won’t settle, the Firm will file a lawsuit, conduct discovery and try the case in Court. Don R. Cotton concentrates on these Personal Injury and Wrongful Death cases. Don attended the University of Kansas, where he earned a B.A. degree in History and Psychology. While at K.U., he was named a State of Kansas Scholar, a Freshman Honor Scholar, and was a member of the KU Honors College. He also received several other academic awards and scholarships, and developed his undying devotion to the Kansas Jayhawk basketball team. Don next earned a J.D. degree, with honors, at the University of Texas School of Law. While at U.T., he developed a strong interest in litigation and trial work as a member of the National Mock Trial Team and the winner of a number of mock trial and moot court competitions and awards. Don received numerous honors grades for his course work and served several prestigious internships with some of the leading law firms in Texas. Despite his Jayhawk roots, Don now considers himself a Longhorn as well. Don began his practice in Houston in 1990 as a litigation defense lawyer. While a defense lawyer, he concentrated on medical device litigation and medical malpractice defense with one of the top ten largest law firms in the United States. In 1995, Don left the “dark side” and has spent his time since then representing injured people in lawsuits against insurance companies and corporations. At The Bob Richardson Law Firm, Don has successfully settled and tried cases ranging from minor impact car wrecks to million dollar wrongful death and medical malpractice actions. He recently won an appeal at the Texas Supreme Court that preserved the rights of all Texans against automobile liability insurance companies who try to get out of paying valid claims. Don is married to a School Nurse Manager and is the father of two teenagers.
