Location: Washington So, I work in a warehouse/department store. I'm 20, and this is my first job ever (aside from a small office job I had for the last month of summer like years ago). Last night, I was working in the overhead and trying to lift a heavy box out of a stack of metal wheelbarrow baskets. Everything ended up slipping and falling onto me, hitting me in the forehead. The doctors tell me I have a concussion, but there's one detail I told them that I can't remember happening now. I told them that after the baskets fell, I stumbled backward into a reach truck and hit my head on it. I remember it vividly in the moment and was telling everyone who asked about it, but now I can't remember it happening. I don't even feel pain in the back of my head. My partner says it probably did happen and it's just the concussion affecting me, but I am so scared that I gave the wrong information. I seriously can't remember it. I don't even see or feel a mark. In the case that it didn't happen, could I get into trouble? Like, could they accuse me of scamming them or something? Am I going to court?????? Location: Washington state, I work at a small buisness, specifically a burger restaurant. Ive been working for this buisness for a year now, within that time I've witnessed or experienced many sketchy things to say the least. We do not get paid time off like most restaurants and must find coverage if we cant work our shift or must request the day off 2 weeks in advanced. Tonight an employee got a shift approved for coverage. Employee B will cover Employee A's shift. When the info was sent in the group chat our Owner said that Employee A must work his shift or have to pay for the overtime of Employee B. This is not the first time this has happened, that I have witnessed. The last time was the exact same situation except Employee A was 17. In both situations the employees did not pay for the overtime and just worked their shift and had the coverage approved by a manager beforehand. In the past the buisness has had issues with laws regarding minors as well. I believe I have screenshots of the messages of both incidents. There has also been countless safety issues that should have been immediately fixed such as our kids juice cans being directly underneath the hamburger patties which later I discovered that most of the cans had been covered in blood. I was terminated a few months ago. I believe in was in reraliation. There are four managers who run the job and two of them had to do with my termination. My coworker was also terminated the same day. I had only received one formal write up unrelated to my termination. I know for a fact that there are others who had more write ups and formal warnings. I had worked at this job for three years. I would like to note, there is no section of the employee handbook that covers write ups or termination policies. I was in very good standing before and had no reason to believe I would be fired. There had been numerous complaints about the managers that had let me go (let's call them manager A and manager B) manager a (general manager) consistently belittled and bullied employees. Manager B did the same, and even gotten multiple write ups and a formal warning. There was an incident where several employees had come to Manager A to complain about manager B and then manager A turned around and gave Manager B the names of everyone who complained. Manager B then went to those people and questioned them to their faces. This was the most pressing issue that caused me to reach out to owners.
