I am a Seattle area native, raised in a politically active family. Since joining HCMP in 1981, my practice has focused on land use and environmental law, with an emphasis on land development, zoning and permitting. Our state's permit system can be a complex maze for many clients, and I enjoy applying my unique experience to meet our clients' needs.

Zach is a member of Graham & Dunn's Natural Resources, Energy & Manufacturing Industries team. His principal areas of practice include environmental and natural resources law, land use, and eminent domain. During Zach's time at Graham & Dunn, he has had the opportunity to play a key role in various natural resources, environmental, and land use matters ranging from Endangered Species Act litigation, to major industrial accidents, to high-profile land use disputes. He has been selected as a "Rising Star" for environmental law in Washington for the past three years, and was recently featured in Super Lawyers magazine for his outstanding pro bono work. Earlier this year, Zach was elected as Secretary of the King County Bar Association's Environmental and Land Use Section. Zach brings to Graham & Dunn a legal education rooted in a strong technical background. Prior to attending law school, he earned a degree in Biology and worked for several years in the Biotechnology industry. This strong technical background allows Zach to better understand his clients' business and legal needs in the often-technical fields of environmental and natural resources law. His environmental practice includes all aspects of regulatory compliance and permitting, contaminated properties, insurance coverage, enforcement and litigation, and emergency response. Zach also works with our Condemnation practice team and has significant experience representing both municipal agencies and property owners in condemnation proceedings. Although Zach's practice focuses primarily on litigation, he also handles transactional matters, with experience in environmental and real estate due diligence. Finally, Zach is a member of Graham & Dunn's Green Tech practice team and contributes regularly to the team's blog at .
