Joe Shaffer is a highly accomplished and experienced attorney. He is also one of the founding partners of Shaffer Madia Law. Mr. Shaffer earned his J.D. from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He graduated with the Distinguished Student Award in 1994. He spent the early years of his career as an associate in small firms in Michigan in West Virginia before opening his private practice in 1997. At the Law Office of Joseph F. Shaffer, he practiced felony and misdemeanor criminal litigation in addition to civil litigation, family law, real estate, and property law. In 2003, he closed his private practice to work as the Chief Legal Officer and Prosecutor for Harrison County. During his time, he helped run the second largest Prosecuting Attorney’s Office in West Virginia.Mr. Shaffer stayed with the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for 12 years, before he again went into private practice and started Shaffer Madia Law with his nephew. He now uses his extensive experience as a prosecutor to benefit clients who are facing criminal charges.
