N.H. Rev. Stat. § 21-M:8-a

I. There is hereby established within the criminal justice bureau of the department of justice, a medicaid fraud control unit. The unit shall be supervised by an assistant attorney general who shall be appointed by the attorney general in accordance with the provisions of RSA 21-M:3 and who shall carry out the duties imposed by this section under the supervision of the attorney general. The attorney general shall appoint such other assistant attorneys general pursuant to the provisions of RSA 21-M:3 and such additional investigative, clerical, stenographic and other staff as may be necessary to carry out the provisions of this section within the limits of the appropriations made for the unit. II. The duties of the unit shall include, but not be limited to, the investigation and prosecution of violations of all applicable state laws pertaining to fraud in the (a) Administration of the medicaid program; (b) Provision of medical assistance under the state medicaid program; (c) Activities of providers of medical assistance under the state medicaid program. The unit shall also review complaints alleging abuse or neglect of patients in any health care facilities receiving payments under the state medicaid program and may review complaints of the misappropriation of patients' private funds in such facilities. III. The department of health and human services shall cooperate with the medicaid fraud control unit in conducting such investigations and prosecutions and shall provide such information for those purposes as may be requested by the attorney general or his authorized representative.
