N.Y. COM Law § 180-A

§ 180-a. General functions. There is hereby created an agricultural\neconomic development program, the purpose of which shall be to target\nand promote:\n 1. agricultural resources industry development in ways which are\neconomically sustainable and environmentally sound;\n 2. public awareness and understanding of the economic, cultural and\nenvironmental importance of New York agriculture;\n 3. the development, retention, diversification and expansion of the\nagricultural resources industry in ways that will enhance related\nefforts of federal, state and local agencies, commissions, committees,\nassociations, trade groups and manufacturers;\n 4. electronic and other information shared related to the agriculture\nresources industry;\n 5. the development of financing mechanisms for the establishment,\nretention, diversification and expansion of new and existing value added\nagricultural products for sale in local, national and international\nmarkets;\n 6. demonstration projects which would improve business profitability\nin the marketing, processing, storage or manufacture of agricultural\nproducts;\n 7. the review of any regulatory barriers which may impede the\ndevelopment, retention, diversification or expansion of the agricultural\nresources industry;\n 8. geographically balanced public input and advice from individuals\nand agencies directly involved with the production, processing,\nmanufacturing and storage of agricultural products; and such other\nindividuals and agencies as may be engaged in state and local activities\nin support of economic development in the agriculture resource industry;\n 9. the establishment and purposes of the New York state council on\nfood policy established pursuant to subdivision six-a of section sixteen\nof the agriculture and markets law; and\n 10. all things necessary or convenient to carry out the functions,\npowers and duties expressly set forth in this article.\n
