* § 1470-b. City of Rome parking authority. A board to be known as\n"City of Rome parking authority" is hereby created. Such board shall be\na body corporate and politic constituting a public benefit corporation,\nand its existence shall commence upon the appointment of the members as\nherein provided. It shall consist of five members appointed by the mayor\nwith the approval of the common council. The appointment of the chairman\nshall be made by the mayor for a term of five years. Of the other\nmembers first appointed, one shall be appointed for a period of one\nyear, one for a period of two years, one for a period of three years,\nand one for a period of four years. At the expiration of such terms, the\nterms of office of their successors shall be five years. Each member\nshall continue to serve until the appointment and qualification of his\nsuccessor. Vacancies in such board occurring otherwise than by the\nexpiration of such term, shall be filled for the unexpired term. The\nmembers of the board shall choose from their number a vice-chairman. The\nmayor may remove any member of the board for inefficiency, neglect of\nduty or misconduct in office, giving him a copy of the charges against\nhim and an opportunity of being heard in person, or by counsel, in his\ndefense upon not less than ten days' notice. The members of the board\nshall be entitled to no compensation for their services but shall be\nentitled to reimbursement for their actual and necessary expenses\nincurred in the performance of their official duties. The powers of the\nauthority shall be vested in and exercised by a majority of the members\nof the board then in office. Such board may delegate to one or more of\nits members or to its officers, agents and employees such powers and\nduties as it may deem proper. Such board and its corporate existence\nshall continue only to the thirty-first day of December, two thousand,\nand thereafter until all its liabilities have been met and its bonds\nhave been paid in full or such liabilities or bonds have otherwise been\ndischarged. Upon its ceasing to exist, all its rights and properties\nshall pass to the city of Rome.\n * NB City of Rome Parking Authority ceased to exist 12/31/2000 per §\n1470-b, and thereafter until all liabilities have been met/discharged,\nand all bonds paid/discharged\n
