Ohio Rev. Code § 511.51

April 3, 2025 House Bill 315 - 135th General Assembly (A) A board of township trustees by resolution may establish a township preservation commission. The commission shall consist of seven members appointed by the board of township trustees. Initially, two members shall serve a term of one year, two members shall serve a term of two years, and three members shall serve a term of three years. All subsequent terms shall be for a period of three years. The board of township trustees shall appoint members to fill vacancies caused by death, resignation, or removal for the unexpired term. Members shall serve without compensation. (B) Not later than thirty days after the appointment of all initial members by the board of township trustees, the commission shall meet and select a chairperson and vice-chairperson. The commission shall adopt rules of procedure, which shall be approved by resolution of the board of township trustees. Four members shall be required for official action and constitute a quorum. The commission shall take official action only by a vote of a majority of the members voting on the question on the table, during a public meeting open to the public. A record of proceedings shall be maintained and available for inspection. (C) Not later than six months after the appointment of all initial members by the board of township trustees, the commission shall adopt procedures and guidelines by which the commission shall perform the duties enumerated under section 511.52 of the Revised Code, which shall be approved by the board of township trustees.
