Age and residency of applicants.

No person shall be eligible to apply for examination unless the person is at least 18 years of age at the date of

application. An applicant need not be a resident of the borough. The council of the borough may authorize the commission, by rule or regulation, to require police officers and paid fire apparatus operators to become residents of the borough after appointment to the positions.
