Waiver of federal requirements.

The department shall petition the secretary of the U.S. department of health and human services for a waiver of the requirement that it conduct annual medical assistance surveys of nursing homes, for a waiver of the requirement that it conduct annual independent medical reviews and independent professional reviews, to allow the department under 42 USC 1396a (a) (26) and (31) to conduct biennial surveys and reviews and for any waivers necessary to implement the special requirements promulgated under s. 50.02 (3) (d) .
