William Dickerman was transplanted from New York to Los Angeles at a young age. He graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a B.A. in History in 1973. He delayed his law school attendance for a year while he got valuable work experience as a flight steward for Pan American World Airways (“Pan Am”), volunteered on the staff of a U.S. congressman, and travelled in Asia.. Mr. Dickerman then attended the University of Southern California Law Center, serving on the prestigious Law Review and as student Director and Prosecutor in the university-wide judicial system. Upon graduating with a J.D. degree in 1977, Mr. Dickerman accepted the coveted position of Judicial Law Clerk to U.S. District Judge Howard B. Turrentine. After that one-year appointment, Mr. Dickerman travelled extensively, then began his practice of law in earnest.. His first job was as an associate at the boutique firm Leopold, Petrich & Smith, where he got solid grounding in litigation involving literary properties, television, and movies. He then worked at Gelfand & Hinojosa, where he obtained trial and general litigation experience in a broad array of business, commercial, real estate, and other disputes. Mr. Dickerman’s final move, before opening his own firm, was to Antin, Magasinn, Stern, Litz & Grebow, where he broadened his civil litigation experience..
