About Robert Swofford
Robert A. “Rob” Swofford grew up in Nassau Bay, Texas. He graduated from Clear Creek High School in 1983. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Baylor University, Rob graduated from South Texas College of Law in May 1994. During his time in law school, Rob received numerous awards for his academics and was a regular participant in mock trial. Also during law school, Rob took the opportunity to clerk for noted criminal defense attorney, Dan Cogdell while also interning at the Harris County District Attorney’s office. After experiencing both sides of the criminal docket, Rob decided that his beliefs aligned most strongly with the preservation of individual rights and the rights of the accused. Rob has personally tried cases to verdict at all levels of State and Federal courts, as well as having years of second chair experience under the direct supervision of Cogdell. Through his representation of high profile clients and cases, Rob has appeared in numerous national and local publications including People Magazine and Texas Monthly. Rob has also appeared on several national broadcasts including “Dateline NBC,” “20/20” and “Good Morning America.”. Rob is licensed to practice in The State of Texas, in the Federal District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has also represented clients in South Carolina, Illinois, Mississippi, Alabama and Hawaii.. During his career, Rob spent several years working for Greer, Herz and Adams working in insurance defense and most notably, assisting in national litigation for DirectTV in its pursuit of piracy claims against more than 15,000 defendants.. Most recently, before joining Collins, O’Neal & Swofford, Rob served as Vice President and general counsel to a Houston engineering and consulting firm that serviced clients throughout the United States and overseas.. Rob and his wife, Ebon Swofford, also an attorney, reside in League City, Texas and have two children.
