Gavin, a partner at Doi/Luke, Islandlawyers has practiced in the field of divorce/family law his entire career, spanning over 25 years. He has extensive experience in divorce, paternity, child custody, child support, restraining orders, and other family law matters, and has a been recognized by the Best Lawyers in America© and SuperLawyers®, and is listed in Honolulu Magazine's Best Lawyers in Hawaii for 2020-2023.  He also has been rated as "Distinguished" by Martindale-Hubbell®. In 2013, Gavin co-authored the book Child Custody Litigation and Settlements, published by Aspatore Books/Thomson West.. Born and reared in Honolulu, Hawai‘i, Gavin graduated from McKinley High School, and received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Reed College in Portland, Oregon, and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Denver College of Law in Denver, Colorado. Previously, Gavin has worked with the Child Support Enforcement Agency and the SAVD Domestic Violence Clinic.  In his spare time, Gavin volunteers time with Volunteer Legal Services Hawaii and the Hawai’i State Bar Association. Gavin is a member of the Hawaii State Bar Association and the American Bar Association, and was presented with the HSBA's 2002 Justice Award, which honors one lawyer annually for their outstanding contribution to the ideals of justice.
