She was awarded a Pro Bono Certificate from the law school for her volunteer work.. Upon graduating from law school, Belinda accepted a position as an Assistant Public Defender at the Office of the Public Defender of the Ninth Judicial Circuit. She practiced as an attorney there for almost six years trying over 40 trials ranging from misdemeanors to capital felonies, writing and arguing of motions, conducting depositions, and writing appeals.. Belinda is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, but has called Orlando her home for 15 years. She is fluent in Spanish.
