She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Central Florida in 2006. Upon graduating from college, She pursued her dream of becoming an attorney and, in 2009, earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law. While in law school, she was named to the Dean’s List. She was also Justice (President) of the Phi Alpha Delta, Law Fraternity, Fletcher Chapter. During law school, Ms. Rivera also became a Certified Legal Intern for the State Attorney’s Office of the Eighth Judicial Circuit and worked as a legal intern for the Innocence Project of Florida. She was awarded a Pro Bono Certificate from the law school for her volunteer work.. Upon graduating from law school, Belinda accepted a position as an Assistant Public Defender at the Office of the Public Defender of the Ninth Judicial Circuit. She practiced as an attorney there for almost six years trying over 40 trials ranging from misdemeanors to capital felonies, writing and arguing of motions, conducting depositions, and writing appeals.. Belinda is originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, but has called Orlando her home for 15 years. She is fluent in Spanish.
