Attorney Swinton is a native of Portsmouth, Virginia and a graduate of the University of Virginia where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Philosophy, Policy and Law. She then graduated magna cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law where she focused on litigation.. As a law student, she excelled academically. As a member of the Moot Court Board, she achieved regional victories and national recognition; she was a member of the highly selective Geoffrey Fieger Trial Practice Institute, and also participated in Michigan State University’s Street Law Program where she taught legal concepts to high school students. During this time, she acquired skills in advocacy and case management as a law clerk and legal extern with Legal Services of South Central Michigan and the United States House of Representatives’ Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, respectively. After law school, Attorney Swinton acquired valuable experience as a criminal defense attorney with the Law Offices of Lavonda N. Graham-Williams, PLLC and Price Benowitz, LLP before founding the Law Office of K. S. Swinton, PLLC.
