I graduated with honors from Harvard Law School in 1981. I have been a fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers since 1993 and I am a past President of the Washington Chapter. I am the author of the “property division” chapters in the WSBA Family Law Deskbook (2d Ed.) and the 2nd Edition of the Family and Community Property Law volumes of the Washington Practice series. I have has been named one of the top 100 lawyers in Washington by Seattle Magazine and voted one of the top 10 “super lawyers” by Washington Law & Politics. I have been listed in The Best Lawyers in America since 1995, and for 2010 and 2019 that publication selected me as Seattle-area Family Law "Lawyer of the Year." I have made 70-plus presentations at education seminars for other divorce lawyers, on topics such as business valuation, divorce taxation and complex property divisions.
