Melanie M. Lira is the founder of the Lira Cazares Immigration Law. She is a native of San Antonio, Texas, where she received her Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s School of Law. She has been honored for her commitment to human rights and social justice and received the Alice Wright Franzke Feminist Award and the Justice Alma Lopez Women in Law Leadership Award. Further, she received recognition from the Texas Access to Justice Foundation for her pro bono service.. Before beginning her own firm, Melanie worked at a local law firm practicing removal defense. Her experience and dedication to immigration rights has lead her to work in various ways with several organizations and firms such as, Tahirih Justice Center,  Faegre Baker Daniels, and Akin Gump.  Melanie has experience in family based immigration, naturalization, VAWA, U visa and SIJ petitions, consular processing and removal defense.. She is admitted to practice law in Texas and is fluent in Spanish.
