He is past president of the Montgomery County Bar Association (2002), past president of the Alabama Young Lawyers Association (2000-2001), past president of the Montgomery County Trial Lawyers Association (1999) and past president of the Auburn University Bar Association (1999).. Community Involvement. Cole has been an active member of Morningview Baptist Church for more than 40 years. He previously served as chairman of the Deacons. He recently completed service as a lay elder. In addition, he teaches the Adult 2 Sunday School class.. He has served as president of the Jimmy Hitchcock Award, a prestigious award honoring Christian student athletes in Montgomery. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and previously served on the Board of Directors for Trinity Presbyterian School.. Background. Cole's mother is originally from Laurel, Mississippi, and his father was raised in Lowndes County, Alabama. Cole is married to the former Joy Mikell of Millbrook, Alabama, and they have four daughters and five sons. Cole and his wife are strong advocates for adoption and foster care. They have adopted six of their nine children. The couple also are foster parents..
