Mr. Herrera was born in Los Angeles and raised in Koreatown, just west of Downtown. Mr. Herrera attended and graduated from California State University, Northridge with a bachelor’s degree in History. Thereafter, he attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego and graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2012 with a Juris Doctorate degree.. While at Thomas Jefferson, Mr. Herrera interned at the San Diego Alternate Public Defender’s Office, where he was involved in all aspects of juvenile criminal matters. As an intern, he argued several motions as a certified legal intern under the supervision of an attorney and counseled clients in English and Spanish.. In addition, Mr. Herrera clerked for Justice Terry O’Rourke of the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District, Division One. He reviewed and researched law briefs and helped develop research and writing strategies for draft opinions. He assisted in drafting two opinions for the Court..
