I believe in mediating separations and divorces; both because as a lawyer I have been involved in too many battles where winning is losing and the children suffer the most. My goal of my practice as a lawyer is that people in conflict can resolve their disputes peacefully. Most important, this resolution needs to also preserving the dignity of each individual, and take into account the needs of both parties.. I have been practicing law for 40 years, and I have learned a few things during that time. Being a lawyer is not a job, it’s a profession, and it’s one that I take seriously. We are sometimes called lawyers, but often called a lot worse. We are also known as counselors. I am a first-generation American, born to parents who fled Europe on the heels of the rise of Nazi Germany. My parents never took the value of human life for granted; they taught me that everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.. I graduated from Bronx Science High School, Queens College, and the University of Richmond Law School. I made my way into the Bar after passing the Bar exam the first time I took it. I have been in practice since 1983. In my career, I have had a wide general practice with a special interest in issues related to Family Law. My general practice also spans a wide range of issues, such as Real Estate, Bankruptcy, Wills and Estates.. In my practice as a Mediator, I work as a team with my wife, Jacqueline Kaufman who is a trained therapist with many years of experience.
