Well-known for his involvement in media, ethics, and open government matters, Scott serves as legal representative of several newspapers, television stations, and media entities in issues concerning public records, open meetings, libel, privacy, and other First Amendment-related concerns. Scott serves as the General Counsel for the Louisiana Press Association and holds a pivotal role as principal newsroom counsel for the state's prominent news organizations, including The Advocate and The Times-Picayune, Gray Media, USA Today, NBC Universal, and other media platforms.. He has been recognized as a "Leader in Law" by CityBusiness and is rated AV Preeminent for Litigation and Constitutional Law. In 2024 he was named the "Lawyer of the Year" for First Amendment matters and has been a "SuperLawyer," and "Rising Star" since 2013. Scott has been recognized as an "Ally of the Year" and honroed by the Louisiana Foundation Against Sexual Assault, he has twice won the Louisiana State Bar Association's distinguished Stephen T. He regualrly teaches at local universities, and he is President of the Louisiana Center for Law and Civic Engagement. He spent four years on the Louisiana State Bar Association Board of Governors, and in 2019-2020 was Chair of both the LSBA's Young Lawyers Division and the Federal Bar Association - New Orleans' Young Lawyers Division.. Scott spent the years 2012 to 2018 and the 2023 academy year as a faculty member at Loyola University's School of Communication, teaching Media Law and ethics. He has also served as an adjunct professor at LSU. Balancing his professional accomplishments with family life, Scott and his wife, Breland, are proud parents of four children, ensuring that their lives are always vibrant and full of activity..
