Kerry  Rastigue, JD, MSW is an elder law attorney who specializes in the areas of Estate Planning, Long Term Care and Medicaid Planning, and Probate Avoidance Strategies.   Kerry received her law degree from Wayne State University Law School (Cum Laude, Order of the Coif) with a concentration in taxation and business law.  She earned her bachelor’s degree as well as a Master of Social Work in Gerontology from the University of Michigan (Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society).. Kerry began her legal career in Chicago as an employee benefits attorney where her practice covered the full range of retiree benefit issues, from traditional retirement plans to all forms of health and insurance programs.  After returning to her home state of Michigan, Kerry worked as senior benefits counsel for a large automotive supplier in Detroit and was responsible for handling the complex retirement and healthcare issues of over 60,000 employees and retirees worldwide. Kerry’s interest in Elder Law began while serving as a Geriatric Scholar at the University of Michigan School of Social Work.  Her advanced education and experience in the areas of long term care options, Medicare, Medicaid, aging policy, and caregiver support, cemented her dedication to improving the well-being and quality of life for older adults and their families through both the legal and human services systems.. Kerry is a member of the Elder Law and Disability Rights Section of the State Bar of Michigan, the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and National Association of Elder Law Attorneys, and the American Academy of Estate Planning Attorneys.  Kerry also is an active member of numerous organizations committed to the health and welfare of older adults and their families, including the Aging Section of the National Association of Social Workers.   Kerry serves clients throughout Northeast Michigan and Michigan's Thumb.  Kerry and her husband, John, split their time betwen their home in Caseville and their home in Greeenbush with their two dogs, Myrtle and Pearl..
