RJ Lackey is member of our Labor and Employment and Corporate Groups, advising a variety of clients on employment law and general business law.. For the past decade he has helped clients on multiple transactions exceeding $300 million in value. He counsels business clients on all aspects of commercial and transactional law. RJ’s clients include medical practices, entrepreneurs, real estate developers, contractors, banks, and general business clients. He works with clients both large and small to help them tailor solutions to their business needs. Many regard him as a partner and counselor rather than just an attorney.. RJ speaks to groups regarding entity formation and management of business.. His areas of expertise include wrongful termination, sexual harassment, race and sex discrimination claims, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.. He has drafted personnel manuals, drug and alcohol testing policies, employment contracts, resignation agreements and releases, noncompetition and nonsolicitation agreements, and other employment policies for both public agencies and private companies.. RJ has taught management employees, conducted employment investigations and counseled management on numerous aspects of employment law and has handled numerous grievances and complaints before the EEOC and the VEC. He’s a regular contributor at our annual Labor & Employment seminar series.. The Richmond native earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and law degree from the University of Richmond, where he participated in Moot Court Board and served as a law student adviser.. RJ is an active member of the Danville community, lending his talent to Goodwill Industries, the Danville Concert Association, Danville youth soccer leagues, Project Celebration and the Danville School Board.
