Brian C. Harty was born in Chicago, Illinois. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame and the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. He was admitted to the New York Bar in 2003, the California Bar in 2009, and is a Certified Specialist in Family Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization.. After graduating from Berkeley, Brian lived in New York City where he was a corporate transactional attorney with the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, one of the nation’s premier corporate law firms. At Skadden, Arps, Brian’s practice focused on a variety of securities and banking transactions typically valued in excess of several hundred million dollars. He worked on sophisticated transactions, such as, mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, high yield debt offerings and the formation of private equity and hedge funds.. After leaving corporate law, Brian followed his passion to Family Law. Prior to founding Harty Family Law, Brian was a lead attorney with one of Southern California’s most highly regarded family law firms.. Brian is an alumnus of the ABA/National Institute for Trial Advocacy’s Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute as well as the National Institute of Trial Advocacy Civil Trial Skills program, both nationally preeminent trial programs.. Brian is a member of the OCBA Legislative Resolutions Committee. The Committee drafts resolutions and also reviews resolutions proposed by other bar associations and legal entities.  Successful approved resolutions may be used by the Conference to lobby for changes to California law.. Brian is a member of the Banyard Inn of Court and a Fellow of the Society of Fellows of the Orange County Bar Foundation. He is a member of the Family Law sections of both the Orange County Bar Association and the State Bar of California as well as a member of the Association of Certified Family Law Specialists (ACFLS).. Brian is a private pilot and has flown throughout the United States. Brian currently lives in Orange County with his two children.
