I went to law school at Willamette University School of Law in Salem, OR but I'm originally from Ohio.. I worked for the past 12 years at Corbridge Law Offices and was a criminal defense attorney there for 6 years. I also have a lot of experience in protective order cases including restraining orders, stalking orders, emergency protective orders, and more. During my career, I have helped clients navigate their unfortunate and complicated legal issues. I know it can be difficult to face criminal charges. I've helped hundreds of people in the Portland area and their loved ones through their difficult times and will do the same for you. With criminal defense as my specialty, I'll be the aggressive attorney you need.. You need a lawyer who has successfully defended many before you. I've done just that. I've appeared in circuit court for bench trials, motion hearings, arraignments, pretrials, probation violation hearings, and much more. Regardless of your legal situation, if you need a criminal defense attorney, I can provide you with experienced representation. Whether you've been charged with a misdemeanor or felony, give me a call and get your free legal consultation.. In my spare time, I love sports, traveling, and spending time with my family.
I represent unions in labor law matters. I also represent individuals in all types of employment-related matters, from drafting employment contracts to litigation. I am a deeply committed advocate for my clients and enjoy assisting them with their legal matters, whether it be through contract drafting, negotiation, or litigation. I am also committed to serving my community and serve and have served on a variety of bar-related and legal organizations and as a volunteer in my community.
I have lived in the Pacific Northwest for the last 20+ years and I love it here. Although I call Oregon home, I remain an avid and loyal Green Bay Packer fan. I enjoy spending time with my daughter and watching her grow into an independent, smart little girl. I have been fortunate enough to have travelled to Mexico several times, Belize and a day trip into Guatemala to see the Mayan ruins at Tikal.. I have been fortunate enough to have Tara Narkon as my Legal Assistant/ Paralegal/Office Manager and more since June 2003. She helps keep the office flowing and is a great help to me and my clients.. We were lucky to add another staff member, Lisa Michael, in late 2018 t to help streamline the personal injury cases and helm the front desk.
I have been practicing family law almost exclusively since 1990, and in 2007, I opened Bier Family Law. We are comfortably situated in Beaverton with ample parking and a calming view of Koll Center Wetlands, where we see clients in a variety of difficult circumstances and treat each person with the utmost of care and respect.. I love my job. Family law allows me to exercise diametrically opposed skills: I hand-hold and counsel people through perhaps the roughest emotional time of their lives while actively safe-guarding their current and future interests. As a client advocate I also play the role of negotiator both in and out of court. Whether protecting my clients' custody rights or parenting time, or advocating for a fair agreement in issues of support or regarding the division of assets, I do everything within my power to do what’s right by my clients.. I welcome all inquiries for an initial consultation, which allows prospective clients to decide whether the match is a good one before retaining me. During the consult, I hear details of the case, and provide a legal overview as well as a projected estimate of the cost. There are often both tears and laughter at this meeting. Getting started is the hardest part, but picking up a phone is relatively easy. If you need sensitive and effective legal advice or help in a family matter, call and make an appointment to see me.
I focus the bulk my practice on helping individuals and small business owners who have run into tough times financially and need a way to get back on track. A lot of the time this might be through a bankruptcy filing. In other situations, there can be alternatives to bankruptcy.. One of my main goals is to make the humbling experience of asking for help financially to be as straightforward and transparent as possible. I do my best to explain in clear and plain terms what the options are and what the potential results of those options may be. Once my client has made a decision on how he or she (or they) would want to proceed, I and my staff will do our best to guide and manage the process - eventually arriving at a light at the end of the tunnel.. I was a Scholastic Merit Graduate of Western State University College of Law, during which time I maintained a full academic scholarship. During this time I served as an editorial board member of the Law Review, was president of the school's chapter of the American Association of Justice, and clerked for the Honorable Richard T. Fields, then Presiding Judge of Riverside County, California.. Prior to his career in law, Mr. Adams worked for a number of large international promotional marketing companies who boasted clients such as Coca-Cola, Wal-Mart, R.J. Reynolds, McDonald's, IHOP, and T.G.I.Friday's.. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my lovely wife Bridget and my amazing son Pierce and I enjoy playing guitar in all sorts of musical genres.
