He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received a Bachelor's Degree with a double major in History (focus on Dark Age England) and Peace, War, and Defense (focus on National Security, before 9/11 and before it was the cool thing to do).. He then pursued and was awarded the degree of Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law, where he graduated with Honors.
